A calling by God led Pastor James Thomas Edwards of Culpeper
Baptist Church to conceive a
vision of creating a Christ-centered home
to care for aging adults. That vision led
to the Baptist General
Association of
Virginia voting
to establish the
Virginia Baptist
Homes ministry
more than 60 years
ago. Today, four
remarkable, faithbased
retirement
communities in
Culpeper, Newport
News, Richmond and Roanoke serve more
than 1,100 seniors. Partnerships with
Baptist churches across the state make it
possible for Virginia Baptist Homes to
fulfill its mission of providing “Dignity in
Living” to aging adults. During a time
in life when seniors may find themselves
without a caring support system, residents
of Virginia Baptist Homes’ continuingcare
communities have their bodies, minds
and spirits nourished through quality care,
faithful service, and the ideals of family.
