Information on The Glebe’s Bankruptcy
On June 28, 2010, a subsidiary of Virginia Baptist Homes, Inc., The Glebe, Inc., announced that it voluntarily is seeking relief to reduce and restructure its debts under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Virginia, Roanoke Division.
Virginia Baptist Homes is the sole corporate member of The Glebe along with three other retirement communities Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community, Inc., Lakewood Manor Baptist Retirement Community, Inc. and Newport Baptist Retirement Community (“The Chesapeake”) as well as Virginia Baptist Homes Foundation, Inc.
The Glebe is the only entity connected to Virginia Baptist Homes to file for Chapter 11. The goal is for The Glebe to emerge from Chapter 11 as a financially viable community that will continue its mission of effectively serving the residents of The Glebe.
Virginia Baptist Homes, along with the other entities connected to Virginia Baptist Homes, are NOT included in the Glebe’s Chapter 11 filing and do not plan to file for bankruptcy protection. These entities will continue their usual operations, without interruption or supervision by the bankruptcy court.
