Newport News Baptist Retirement Community is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in the flourishing Hampton Roads area of southeastern Virginia, and is one of three retirement communities owned and operated by Virginia Baptist Homes, Inc., a non-for-profit corporation and an agency of the Baptist General Association of Virginia.

The Community has a proud heritage of excellent resident care and quality of life. Prospective residents are offered a range of service options including a continuing care contract with entrance fees and monthly fees that provide access to all levels of care or a rental agreement for Assisted Living services.

Newport News Baptist Retirement Community is designed to remove the stress and trials of home maintenance. Three healthy, delicious meals are served daily. All grounds keeping, property maintenance, painting, and plumbing are handled by the Community, as is housekeeping and security services.

The Activities program provides many opportunities for enjoyment. Residents enjoy a woodworking shop, billiard room, and an exercise room equipped with a variety of fitness equipment. A group exercise program is offered as well as the availability of exercise programs shown on the in-house television network. Additionally, crafts and art classes, and a variety of other individual and group activities such as trips to area attractions, educational presentations, and dinner theaters are available. For some, joining friends for bridge or a shopping excursion on the Community bus are regular, weekly dates. Gardeners will find flower and vegetable garden plots available.

Accommodations include studio and apartment suites as well as cottages, furnished to suit individual tastes and preferences. Cottages are popular with residents who want the security of a continuing care retirement community, yet prefer a larger accommodation. Located on Leeward Way, our cottages are attractively designed and emphasize comfort, convenience, and security.

Assisted Living services, for residents who need assistance with the activities of daily living , are provided by licensed, certified staff. Assisting residents to maintain their independence and dignity in a safe, comfortable Christian environment is our foremost goal.

Direct admission to Assisted Living levels of service are now available through rental contracts that do not entail entrance fees. Information regarding services covered in rental contracts is available upon request.

One of the most important benefits of Newport News Baptist Retirement Community is the availability of nursing care through our on-site Health Care Center. The Center is fully licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and staffed around the clock by licensed professionals. The emergency call system links every resident with medical professionals. For residents who require care for short term illness, recuperation following hospitalization, or long-term care, the Center provides quality care in a familiar environment. All residents benefit from the services provided through the Health Care Center’s regular physician visits to the Community, medication management, nutritional counseling, and health screening.
